Early. Effective. Empowering.

Right now, your child's brain is building the circuitry that will shape every decision they make about drugs and alcohol.

You have the greatest window of opportunity to help build that circuitry between ages 8 and 12, when brain development is at its peak, and a parent’s voice trumps everyone else's. At 13½, peer influence overtakes parental influence in your child’s brain, and your window of greatest influence closes.

You don't need to be an expert on this topic. You just need to know how to start the conversation.

Prevention research shows that early, honest conversations with a trusted parent is the single most powerful force protecting their kids from substance use.

Most parents hesitate. Not because they don't care, but because they don't know what to say, when to say it, or whether bringing it up too early might do more harm than good.

4 Youth removes that uncertainty. We equip you with neuroscience-backed conversation strategies that give you the words and the confidence to talk early and talk often.

No lectures. No scare tactics. Just a deeper connection with your kids through the everyday moments you already share.

A Three-Part Approach

  1. Know What You're Up Against - Understand today's drug landscape, local statistics, social media targeting tactics, and the brain science behind behaviors and decision-making in young minds. This equips you to navigate these conversations with confidence and credibility.

  2. Create a Safe Space - Learn how to start conversations that matter, listen without judgment, and become a trusted voice. This creates a meaningful connection that will be important to them in their teen years and beyond.

  3. Empower Their Decision-Making Skills - Help your child develop the tools to think critically and make good choices while their brain is still forming its decision-making circuitry. What they practice now is the foundation for who they become as a teen.

Our Signature Workshop

Our "Talk Early, Talk Often"  Parent  Workshop equips you with everything you need to know to feel confident talking with your kids about drugs, starting as early as when they are 8 years old. Through hands-on role-playing, you'll practice initiating and responding to real scenarios, understand the neuroscience behind behaviors and addiction, connect with other parents who share your values, and leave each session with actionable homework.

You will gain lifetime access to ongoing guidance and support, because connecting with kids about drugs isn't a one-time talk; it's ongoing conversations that evolve as they grow.

our story

THE SCIENCE IS COMPELLING

Between ages 8 and 12, your child's brain undergoes rapid development of the prefrontal cortex, which governs decision-making, impulse control, and risk assessment.

Additionally, neuroscience research using functional MRI shows that a parent's voice uniquely activates the brain's reward and social connection centers during this same period.

Then, between ages 13 and 14, the brain's reward circuitry begins to tune out a parent’s voice, automatically shifting its focus toward the voices of peers and outsiders. This is a natural, biological step toward independence.

This is why, between the ages of 8 and 12, is a parent’s greatest window of influence to strengthen connections and build decision-making “circuitry” that will guide and protect your child for years to come.
